MILWAUKEE/NARI OFFERS FREE LEAD PAINT RULE SEMINAR
May 17, 2010

WAUWATOSA, WIS. ⎯ The Milwaukee chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (Milwaukee/NARI), the area’s leading home improvement and remodeling industry resource for more than 48 years, will sponsor a free seminar on the recently enacted Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule.

The event will be held Wed., June 9, in the Ron Ziglinski, CR Education Center in the Milwaukee/NARI office, 11815 W. Dearbourn Ave., Wauwatosa, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  It will include a question and answer session.

In effect since April 22, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed the rule for work done on a dwelling or child-occupied facility that was built before 1978 and when the renovation disturbs 6 sq. ft. or more of paint per room, 20 sq. ft. or more of exterior paint, or involves windows.

The seminar will provide information on contractor requirements when doing renovations and on what homeowners who live in dwellings built before 1978 should do before and during the remodeling process.

Ada Duffey, CR, CLC, owner of Milwaukee Lead/Asbestos Information Center, Inc., will conduct the seminar.  Duffey and her company provide contractors not only within Milwaukee/NARI but also throughout the state with the most current information as it relates to lead and mold.  Through the classes Duffey personally teaches and the programs available through her company, thousands of Wisconsin contractors know the proper procedures to follow when encountering lead or mold in a residential setting.

In addition, attendees will receive a variety of Milwaukee/NARI resource materials, including the association’s annual Membership Directory, Resource Guide, and Remodeling Guide.  Light refreshments will be served.

Space is limited, and reservations are required.  Call the Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council office at 414-771-4071 to reserve your space or send an e-mail to info@milwaukeenari.org.

The Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council was chartered in July 1961, as a Chapter of the National Home Improvement Council.  In May of 1982, the National Home Improvement Council merged with the National Remodelers Association to form NARI – the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.  With over 900 members, the Milwaukee Chapter is the largest in the nation.

The Council’s goals of encouraging ethical conduct, sound business practices, and professionalism in the remodeling industry have led to the growth of the remodeling industry nationwide and made NARI a recognized authority in that industry.

For more information or to receive a free copy of an annual membership roster listing all members alphabetically and by category, and the booklet, “Milwaukee/NARI’s Remodeling Guide,” call 414-771-4071.
